On our way from Jarahdale to Rockingham, a big 30 minute drive, the weather changed and became windy and drizzly. We spent the day restocking our supplies, for the first time probably ever it has been 2 weeks since we shopped. We also did some bookwork and caught up on some stuff that we have been putting off. We stayed the night in a sneaky little side of the road spot.
The next morning the weather was back to being nice again, we spent a couple of hours walking along the foreshore, and then around Point Peron. There is a massive Defense Force presence in the town with HMAS Stirling on Garden Island.

We arrived in Fremantle around lunch time, the preservation of the old buildings in town is really well done, its a shame more towns don’t preserve historical architecture the way they do here. We spent a couple of hours walking around the CBD.

The next day we did a tour of the Tunnels beneath the Freemantle Prison, it was interesting, rather than focusing on the fact it was a prison, built by convicts and all of the challenges and suffering they encountered, it focused on the magnificent engineering of the town water supply fed by aquifers underground but still within the prison walls. The tour took us 20 meters underground into the complete darkness, climbing through networks of tunnels, and rowing canoes through the underground streams, it was informative, and something that we have never done before. The town of Freemantle and the trade ships that would visit the port all relied on this underground water supply which was pumped by hand 20 metres up to the surface by prisoners.

In the afternoon we took MIA to Tyrepower to rotate the tyres, the front right tyre is wearing really badly so we have swapped the back left tyres for the front ones, we will have to monitor it closely. The good folk at Tyrepower allowed us to stay in their carpark the night, ching ching that’s another $45 saved.
