Manjimup – Bridgetown – Nannup

11/04/2019

We did a bit more driving today than what we have been doing over the last few days (approx 150kms) but considering that we both have some aching muscles from yesterday, and the drizzling rain, we were both happy with that.

We did still get out and do a bit of exploring in the drizzle with our rain coats on, we tried the giant slippery slide and had a look around the Manjimup Timber & Heritage Park, this is a massive area with some really good displays, probably the highlight was discovering the local wood turners plying their trade in the community wood working shed. There were 4 blokes and 1 lady all retired who get together 3 days a week and make some really beautiful pieces. We are now the proud owners of our very own spurtle. This is also where we met Hazel, the 82-year-old version of Rachel.

A further 40kms up the road is Bridgetown, the main attraction for us here is the worlds biggest (7m x 2m – 40,320 Pieces) and smallest Jigsaw puzzles, in fact they have an entire jigsaw museum. The museum is the legacy of Jesse Brierley who was a local that had a personal passion for Jigsaws that spread.

By the time we got to Nannup, the muscles from tree climbing were getting worse, and we probably didn’t explore this little town as we should have, we got fuel, a crumbed sausage and moved on to our out-of-town free camp on the way to Augusta.
