We came to Jarrahdale because it has a free camp area that has water and a dump point, it is also only about 15 minutes further past Serpentine falls which is somewhere we were going to anyway. When we arrived we met Frank & Shirley who have been on the road for 8 years, during our three happy hours with them we have learnt a few more things and got to enjoy there company.

We are now only 1 hour outside of Perth and have 7 days to get there, we are thinking we might just make it in time to meet Rod & Michelle.
Serpentine Falls is the first waterfall that we have seen this year, we spent over an hour just sitting on the cool rocks at the bottom of the falls admiring the nature of the falls and the surrounding forest.

There is a 6km hike to Baldwins Bluff, but after our relaxing time at the waterfall we decided that we would put that off until tomorrow and go and have a counter meal at the local pub instead. We rarely eat out these days so our counter meal at the pub was a bit of treat, as it turned it out Col’s was a tad disappointing, never mind, we will just have to try again somewhere else another time.
When we returned the next day we did the Baldwins Bluff walk and then found another track that lead down to the creek that fed the falls, however there was no water in it. We followed this creek bed, little bit of rock hopping, to the top of the water falls. As it works out there is not enough upstream water to keep the falls going year round so instead they have run a 150mm water pipe to the top of the falls to keep it and the downstream waterways active and prevent them becoming stagnate.

When you look a the falls after learning that they are not naturally fed they don’t seem to hold the same beauty as yesterday. When the stream is flowing they are probably a lot more impressive.
