Cairns

27/07/2018 What an excellent time we’ve had in Cairns, the reason for coming up here was to catch up with some of the friends that we had previously met in Darwin two years ago. We only had time to stay for two nights and the crew in Cairns helped make the most of it. On […]

On our way to Cairns

24/07/2018 On our way to Cairns we stayed one night free camping at South Mission Beach, and another at Babinda. Rachel is still on a quest to see and take a photo of a Cassowary in the wild. We spent some time up at Milla Milla having a look at the waterfalls. The Babinda Boulders […]

Balgal Beach

23/07/2018 After leaving Saunders Beach we moved 30 minutes north to Balgal Beach. This is another free camp spot right by the beach. Very similar to Saunders except a bit more room, and the facilities are a bit cleaner. We were very fortunate to meet a great group of people whilst we stayed here. Rex […]

Magnetic Island

16/07/2018 After we left Rowes Bay we parked Frank at Greg & Kathys’ office and took Mia over to Magnetic Island (cost $390 for the barge). Wow what a little piece of paradise, we had no idea what to expect, and really loved it. We camped at Cockle bay for 2 nights and the Jetty […]

While Col enjoyed the V8’s with Greg and Lloyd for a couple days, Rachel was getting around on her pushy exploring parts of Townsville and doing a […]

Hervey Bay

06/06/2018 We managed to get a fantastic site at Pialba Caravan Park in Hervey Bay right on the water. They had a special deal, pay for 6 nights and stay for 7, we love a deal so a week it was. The main excuse for staying here was to get power and sort out the […]

Caliope

07/06/2018 After leaving Hervey Bay, we headed north, destination unknown. As we travel we usually talk to trucks on the CB to negotiate with them on where and how they would like to overtake us, during one of these little chats another caravan joined in and asked us where we were stopping at the end […]

Seaforth

05/07/2018 The last few days we have been exploring around north of Mackay staying at Seaforth and Proserpine, visiting Halliday Bay, Cape Hillsborough, Airlie Beach and Bowen. The last time we had a look around these areas was in 2002 when we did the trip with the Kids in Craig (the caravan).  Lots has changed […]

03/07/2018 When we came down the range we stopped at Finch Hatton Gorge, as we started the 4.2km rt walk to the “wheel of fire” (not sure why they call it that) it started raining. We both put on our rain coats and off we went, it was kinda better walking through the rain forest […]
