We left Rocky and headed to Yeppoon, we really like it here. Like many other places they have redeveloped the esplanade with a free water park and swimming pool really funky kids play area, amphitheater and that sort of stuff, it felt good. It may be a bit hectic in peak summer, but on a Sunday in June, really good balance. Whilst we were driving through Yeppoon we met Gary who owns Hitch’n’Go they made the “a-frame” that we use to tow Frank with. We had a good chat and he suggested that we bring the ‘A-Frame’ into him on Monday for a service, which we did. Well just lucky that we met Gary, there were some loose bolts, worn bushes, and smarter ways of doing things. We have now learnt a lesson that we need to check on this important bit to our setup on future services.
We took Frank for a run up the beach north of Yeppoon, the weather was fantastic, slight breeze, and the ever-important low tide. The low tide was 0.66 with a high of 4.18, the beaches are flat with no real beach above high tide. They come in fast with no beach left once its high. This means that if you don’t plan your timing with the tides you can get really messed up. We had a great day on a beach mostly to ourselves.
We ended up free camping around the Yeppoon area for 3 nights and are pretty sure that we will be back and could easily stay for longer next time, we might include a trip over to Great Keppel Island.
Its now back to Rocky, we need to collect our mail, BCDC charger for the new batteries, and some bits to fix the awning. We decided we would head back to the same place we stayed last week get all these bits, fix the awning and do our washing at the laundromat.
